What is web conferencing?

Web conferencing is the method of conducting live meetings or presentations over the Internet. In a web conference, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to other participants through the Internet. A full web conference using CoVideo can be very collaborative and include question & answer sessions to allow full participation between the audience and the presenter, white board and internet browser sharing, document sharing, and live audio and video. This is a major advantage over typical webinars that are typically one-way, from the speaker to the audience with limited audience interaction, such as in a webcast.

Other terms used for web conferencing include: webcasting, live online meeting, web meeting, online meetings, video conference, net meeting, online training, web conference, desktop sharing, and web collaboration.

The person who controls the online live meeting is the Operator, or Host. The people you invite to your online live meeting are the Guests, Attendees, or Participants. The number of "seats" in your meeting room determines the number of people you can have in a web meeting at the same time.
